Maternity Ward Repairs Needed

The maternity ward at Moma Hospital was built 68 years ago–in 1951 by Presbyterian missionaries. Despite occasional repairs over the decades it still manages to stand. However, the ward has now become an unhealthy environment for Moma’s mothers-to-be.

Foremost is the need for an entirely new metal roof and replacement of much of the roof’s joists and rafters. We have just enough time to get the roof repairs done before the rainy season begins in October. Otherwise, the women will have to be moved to a crowded general population ward.

Other major repairs include replacing broken window glass, patching and painting stucco walls, repairing the concrete floor, and remediating the erosion problems around the building’s foundation.

To ensure that this building is made safe before the rainy season sets in, Friends of Moma Hospital needs to raise $10,000. To reach that goal, we need your help. Just click on “How to Donate” to the right and follow the Mission: Hope logo to the donation page. Be sure to put in the “comments section” that the donation is for Moma Hospital.

These pictures tell the story best.
