Mattresses Arrive!

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the first load of mattresses and sheets arrived at Moma Hospital this week. With our partner Mission: Hope and swift action by Jimmy Shafe, Mission: Hope’s Congo Director, we were able to find, purchase, and deliver 30 mattresses, plus bed boards and sheets.

Special thanks also go to those with “boots on the ground” in Kananga and Moma–Pastor Kabala Mboyama, Legal Representative for the Congo Presbyterian Church; Dr. Christophe Bakamubia of Moma Hospital; Simon Ntumba and Therese Tshibola with Congo Presbyterian Church; and Omba Ngandu with Mission: Hope in Kananga. Without their help, this process would have taken many months to accomplish. There are, of course, many others working behind the scenes and making good things happen at Moma.

Meanwhile, a local carpenter is fixing bed frames so that the mattresses will last a good while.

Moma Hospital still needs another 30 mattresses and, as always, medicines. Moma continues to be on the route used by refugees fleeing to Angola to escape the violence in the Kasai Province of the Congo. The additional stress on a hospital already under-supplied has resulted in an urgent need for all things medical.
